The DEA May List THIS Health-Promoting Plant as a Schedule 1 Narcotic!

(The DEA May List THIS Health-Promoting Plant as a Schedule 1 Narcotic!)

In 2016, the DEA or the Drug Enforcement Administration published in the Federal Register a notice of intent to list 7-hydroxymitragynine and mitragynine (the main psychoactive constituents of the plant kratom or Mitragyna speciosa) as controlled substances. That’s not all, the Drug Enforcement Administration made a decision to add this plant to the most restrictive classification possible.

Even though the DEA has not announced any official timeline, the plant mitragyna speciosa, and its 2 main constituents, 7-hydroxymitragynine and mitragynine, may be placed onto schedule 1 temporarily.

What Is Kratom?

It is not an opiate but it actually works in a similar way. It attaches to activate opioid receptors. Researchers have found that it could reduce anxiety, provide chronic pain relief, and help in overcoming addiction regardless of its own euphoric effects.

A few studies in mice have shown remarkable results in overcoming cocaine addiction. Also, a large number of kratom users have reported that it helped them overcome addiction to heroin. They have also claimed that it is an amazing alternative to prescription pain killers and can help in cases of addiction caused by prescribed opiates.

Unfortunately, several states toyed with the idea of placing mitragyna speciosa on their own controlled substances lists. The DEA wanted to make its move, but failed to do it after public outcry got in the way. Furthermore, never known for its individual choice, attention to democracy, or individual liberty, the DEA does on a national level what Big Government and Big Pharma could not do on a state level.

However, kratom is nowadays listed alongside heroin. The DEA notes that as a result of its schedule 1 classification, kratom does not have any medical use as well as a high abuse potential.

Unluckily, it has doomed a great number of Americans to live in anxiety and pain or take pharmaceutical medications. Maybe this is the whole reason for the DEA’s decision to start with.
