Since ancient times, Chamomile essential oil has been used to treat various stomach spasms, muscle soreness, and indigestion issues. Today it is used in a variety of cosmetic and beauty products because it has positive effects on so many different parts of the body both internally and externally.

Let’s look at a few of the most common health benefits and how you can obtain these benefits for yourself by incorporating Chamomile essential oils into your life:

Antibacterial/antifungal

Chamomile oil has very good antiseptic and antibiotic properties which do not let bacteria and fungi to develop. They also eliminate infections that are already present.

  • For acne: Add 5 drops of Chamomile essential oil, 5 drops of Tea tree oil to 30 ml of Jojoba oil.  Apply daily after showering or washing your face.
  • Lice/mites: Add chamomile essential oil directly to the hair and scalp in order to kill lice and/or mites.  Also, add 10 -15 drops of Chamomile essential oil to your shampoo for additional treatment and prevention.

Anti-inflammatory

Chamomile essential oil has strong anti-inflammatory properties.  These properties create a calming effect that soothes not only physical inflammation such as muscles but also mental inflammation, such as stress, hyperactivity, and insomnia.

  • Sore muscles: Add 5 drops of Chamomile essential oil and 5 drops of clove essential oil to your bath. Also, be sure to hydrate your skin after with lotion or a carrier oil such as coconut oil mixed with Chamomile essential oil.
  • Calm skin irritations: Mix 5 drops of Lavender, Jasmin, and Chamomile essential oil with 30ml of a carrier oil such as Jojoba oil. Apply to irritated areas of the skin.

Stomach and digestion

Being a stomachic, Chamomile essential oil tones up the stomach and ensure its proper function. It also promotes the secretion of digestive juices into the stomach and facilitates digestion. Moreover, it ensures good health of the liver and the proper flow of bile from it.

  • Clarify and Illuminate hair and skin: Chamomile essential oil provides both nutrients and vitality to hair and skin.  Add 10-15 drops of Chamomile essential oil to your shampoo/lotion for brighter and healthier looking hair and skin.
  • Varicose Veins: Add 5 drops each of Chamomile, Cypress, and Neroli (Orange Blossom) essential oil to 30ml of Jojoba oil and apply daily to reduce and prevent varicose veins.

Remember, Chamomile essential oil is for aromatic and topical use only. Do NOT ingest or allow near your eyes. Also, be sure to remember you can enhance products such as creams, lotions, soaps and shampoos by adding a few drops of Chamomile essential oil.

Do not use within the first 4 months of pregnancy. Some people in rare occasions will have allergic reactions to Chamomile so use with caution at first and if you notice any allergic reactions discontinue use.
