Perhaps one of the universal signs of affection, kissing exists in nearly every culture. The act of kissing can range from a quick peck to a long, intimate smooch. In many European countries, people exchange a kiss on each cheek to greet each other.

But, the mouth is the dirtiest place of the body because of the saliva containing several microorganisms. The exchange of saliva while exchanging kissing contains bacteria which in turn gives rise to some deadly diseases. An intimate 10-second kiss can transfer over 80 million bacteria.

This post below shared some of the deadly diseases one can catch while kissing:

Cold Sores

You catch cold sores by being kissed by someone who has an active facial cold sore. This might have happened just the other day – or maybe when you were a child, perhaps by being kissed by a relative. The transmission of periodontitis occurs through Saliva, intimate kissing, sharing food, utensils, or toothbrushesOral sex is a common way of passing on cold sores from one person’s mouth to another person’s genitals (genital herpes) – or vice versa.Sometimes it will be caught on

Oral sex is a common way of passing on cold sores from one person’s mouth to another person’s genitals (genital herpes) – or vice versa.Sometimes it will be caught on the ordinary skin such as the hand or finger if you kiss an area where there is sore or broken skin which can allow entry.

Hand, Foot, And Mouth Disease

You might get infected by kissing someone who has hand, foot, and mouth disease or by touching a doorknob that has viruses on it then touching your eyes, mouth or nose. Hand, foot, and mouth disease, being a highly contagious infection, is passed through open pores in the mouth.

Some people, especially adults, may not develop any symptoms, but they can still spread the virus to others. This is why people should always try to maintain good hygiene (e.g. handwashing) so they can minimize their chance of spreading or getting infections.

Periodontitis

Periodontitis is not contagious in the traditional sense like catching a cold. However, during activities like kissing, sharing drinks, or eating utensils, we do exchange bacteria with each other. This doesn’t mean you will get the disease, but it can increase your risk if your partner has the disease. Good oral hygiene — brushing twice a day and using an interdental cleaner (floss, interproximal brushes, water flosser) once daily can help you maintain good oral health and potentially reduce your risk.

Strep Throat

Strep throat is a contagious disease (meaning that you catch it from another person). It is caused by infection with group A streptococci (pronounced: strep-toe-kok-sigh) bacteria, and it’s very common among teens. The symptoms of strep throat include fever and stomach pain, along with red and swollen tonsils.

Be careful to keep your mouth as healthy and germ-free as possible every day. Also, make sure that your partner takes preventive actions too so that you both can make love and enjoy those smooches. This disease definitely transfers by kissing.
