Warts are unpleasant, unsightly and unfortunately, all too often.

They are grainy, small skin growths that appear most often on your hands or fingers.

Usual warts are caused by a virus and are transmitted by touching.

Like we said, they usually appear on your hands or fingers and may be:

  • Fleshy, grainy, small, bumps
  • Tan, pink, white or flesh-colored
  • Rough to the touch
  • Sprinkled with black pinpoints, which are small, clotted blood vessels

Duct Tape for Removing Warts

One of the best proven home natural remedies for removing warts is everyday silver duct tape. Duct tape has emerged as a workable treatment, based on some preliminary studies.

In one study, 59% of patients with usual warts received either cryotherapy or duct tape treatment. After only two months, 86 percent of those who use duct tape removed their warts, while only 60 percent who received cryotherapy get rid of them.

Here’s how to use it:

Wrap the wart with a small part of silver duct tape for six days, and replace the tape if needed. After that soak it in water and lightly and slowly remove dead tissue with a disposable emery board  or pumice stone.

Let the wart exposed for about 12 hours, and then repeat the procedure until the wart is gone.

“You do have to be patient. This procedure is not an overnight cure” – says Dr. Julian Whitaker, director of the Whitaker Wellness Institute.

To decrease the chances of common warts:

  • Avoid direct touch with the warts. This includes your own warts.
  • Don’t pick at warts. Picking may expanse the virus.
  • Don’t use the same nail clipper, pumice stone or emery board on your warts as you use on your healthy nails and skin.
  • Never bite your fingernails. Warts appear more often in skin that has been broken. Nibbling the skin around your fingernails can increase the chances for the virus

Note: Consult your doctor if the growths are painful or change in appearance or color; you’ve tried treating the warts, but they remain, expanse or reappear; you aren’t sure whether the growths are warts.
